Abby Burrows

Abby is a general surgical trainee in the East Midlands, currently working towards  a PhD exploring the role of artificial intelligence in surgical education. Her research examines how AI can improve resources for exam and interview preparation for trainees, and make these technologies more accessible and cost-effective.

Jon Lund

Jon is a consultant surgeon with a long interest in surgical training. He has occupied every role in surgical training, from clinical supervisor to chair of the Joint Committee on Surgical Training (JCST). When he was Surgical Director of ISCP he led the development of the blueprint for the 2021 surgical curricula for all surgical specialities and wrote the detail of the General Surgery curriculum. He is now Dean of Education at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Surgeons face significant exam and career progression pressures alongside demanding clinical commitments, and outcomes are not equal across all groups. JLAB was built to address both challenges, using AI to deliver focused, efficient preparation for surgical exams, and aid career development and progression that is accessible to all.
